Check out what Gilbert bought for the Christmas lights. Matthew was pretty interested in it.

Well, as always, an interesting week at the Saldanas'. Matthew had some interesting days last week. Last Sunday we could tell he wasn't feeling well at all and he slept A LOT, but he didn't really have a fever and not much came of it. Wednesday was a ton of fun with Matthew teething. Gilbert had a root canal on Tuesday and his jaw hurt pretty bad on Wednesday so he stayed home from work. That was the exact day Matthew's teeth decided it was time to make his life miserable. He literally cried all day until about 8:15, with the exception of nap time. Okay, so not all day, but you get the idea. The rest of the week went a bit better. We didn't get a 3 day weekend with Daddy because the upcoming holiday shifted his schedule around but we did enjoy him on Saturday and Sunday.
This picture is actually a couple of weeks old but I love the looks on their faces. Sometimes I can't get over how much Matthew looks like Gilbert.

I love this. We have these on our mantel. These are both kids' first ultrasounds. The one on the left is Matthew at 6 weeks, 5 days and the one on the right is Baby #2 at 10 weeks, 6 days.

We got a new babygate to keep Matthew out of the kitchen and away from the cabinets, but he gets to play in the eating area now. I've since had to move the dog food because I was a little scared he'd try to eat it. I love that he looks so innocent as he's playing with the bag he's not supposed to touch.

He loves playing in here. You can even see Noah and C3PO on the ground in the background. I guess they wanted to play in there, too.

He's 14 months old and he still enjoys his jumperoo. He just can't sit in it because I'm concerned he'll break one of the springs =)

The face we got to see all. day. long. on Wednesday (although this was taken on Thursday)

"Oh look, the TV's on"

Apparently Daddy's antibiotics make a good toy. These were confiscated pretty quickly after the picture was taken.

Our boy is a genius. He pulled his musical table over and then walked over to his ark and brought that over. Then he set the ark on its side and sat on it. The whole thing was completely deliberate. He's amazing.

Playing with the lightsaber. He actually held this pose for a good 10 seconds. It was pretty funny.

Big smiles for Mommy (check out the awesome guitar pj's)

Another cute story. Matthew saw me putting some of his toys away in the closet and when I turned around he had picked up his blocks and placed them in the bookcase. Then he picked up his duck and put him in the bookcase, too. Then he looked at me to make sure I was watching. So cute.

More big smiles for Mommy

We went to our small group on Friday night and it was pretty cold out so I put this beanie on Matthew and he surprisingly left it on. A friend of mine gave it to him for Christmas last year and I'm so glad it still fits him. He looked so cute.

Again with the penguin beanie. Sleeping on the way home from small group.

Why does Matthew looked so freaked out?

This is why:

Daddy put some of the Christmas lights up over the weekend =)
Ok, so my mom bought Matthew some Batman pj's while she was here for his birthday but the pants are incredibly long and I have yet to hem them so he can actually wear them to bed. Well, it's been getting down into the 30's at night here and I realized that we needed to get Matthew some thicker pj's so I went to Walmart and found these for $7. Awesome.

He was a big hit yesterday morning at church before I changed him into regular clothes.
Ok, so. My ultrasound is in a week and a half. I'm getting anxious. I'm ready to see this little one on the screen again and hopefully find out what we're having. The nursery has been planned out for either sex, so we're ready to get started =). I'm not feeling a whole lot of movement yet. Very, very subtle pokes here and there. I'm ready for some good, strong movement.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I'm excited. We'll be spending it with our very large Texas family. We're looking forward to it and I'll try to get lots of good pictures. I will not be cooking anything for the dinner itself, but I will be making some cake balls. They're so good it's ridiculous.

OUCH
"Sciatica is a set of symptoms including pain that may be caused by general compression and/or irritation of one of five nerve roots that give rise to the sciatic nerve, or by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve itself. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body.
Although sciatica is a relatively common form of low back pain and leg pain, the true meaning of the term is often misunderstood. Sciatica is a set of symptoms rather than a diagnosis for what is irritating the root of the nerve, causing the pain. This point is important, because treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms will often be different, depending upon the underlying cause of the symptoms.
The first cited use of the word "sciatica" was registered in 1450.
Pregnancy
Sciatica may also be experienced in late pregnancy, primarily resulting from the uterus pressing on the sciatic nerve, and, secondarily, from the muscular tension and/or vertebral compression consequent to carrying the extra weight of the fetus, and the postural changes inherent to pregnancy."

Another great weekend with Daddy here at home. I've been bad at taking pictures this week. Last week was a bit tiring with the boys being here 3 days and it really took its toll on my sciatic. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes when it's just Matthew and when I have the other kids. We'll see how much longer I can handle them. I did find out that I have the week of Thanksgiving off and I have 3 weeks off in December. That will be nice.
Matthew has been fighting another cold and today he's just not feeling like himself. I'm hoping this passes quickly.
So Matthew has several words that he knows how to say but rarely says. Then he has the words that he says all the time, like "Dada" and "Pez". He finally started saying "Mama" a lot and I was really excited until I realized that he only says it when he wants what I'm eating. So apparently "mama" doesn't mean "Mama"... it means "give me some of whatever it is you're eating". Silly boy.
He's just cute

One of the new shirts Daddy bought him. He looks like such a big boy in it.

Watching Daddy mow the lawn yesterday morning.

The weather here has been incredible. It feels like winter. For the time being, anyway. When we left for church this morning it was 39 degrees out. It made me so happy. I'm hoping it at least stays comfortable over the next few weeks.
Here's the newest belly picture. I didn't realize my shirt was quite as thin as it is so I apologize for the very obvious view of the bella band underneath my shirt =)

Just a quick update to let you know that a sneak peak of Matthew's 1 year photos are up!!! We love Kelly and Marianne. As photographers and as family. Go check them out!!!
Matthew and I enjoyed a long, lazy weekend with Daddy. I love having him home on Fridays. We FINALLY got our Texas drivers' licenses. I know, we've been here almost 10 months and we finally took care of it. It's insane the amount of documentation you have to take in there to prove your identity. Luckily I had grabbed all of the forms of ID listed just to be on the safe side. Anyway, right now we're waiting for our actual licenses to arrive. In the mean time we just have pieces of paper. We also started some of our Christmas shopping. We took Matthew to Toys R Us to get an idea of what we can get him for Christmas and to start a wish list to send to the grandparents. We had fun.
Matthew went down the slide at the park for the first time last weekend. He wasn't too impressed.

We went to another park a few days later and I let him go down a little slide by himself and he liked that a lot better.
Our little Clone Trooper

Taking a cat nap in the car after running some errands

Apparently it's a lot of fun to climb into the case for Daddy's kick pedal

Saturday morning was cold so Gilbert put in The Karate Kid and we laid on the floor under a blanket while Matthew played. He really seemed to enjoy the family time and the movie.

Here's a video of him doing some talking and taking some time to watch the movie

This cracks me up. I just happened to catch this on video and what makes me laugh isn't just the way he falls but the fact that "You're The Best Around" is playing in the background as he falls. I will point out, just so I don't seem like a mean Mommy, that I did turn off the camera as soon as he fell to make sure he was okay. He didn't even cry so I feel okay about sharing this video with everyone =)

Well, I'm 16 weeks pregnant now and have given in to the Bella Band. I call it my "sausage casing" because it's basically spandex and it's pretty snug. However, it so much more comfortable that just wearing my regular jeans. Last night and today the sciatica is pretty bad. My wonderful husband brought me home a tennis ball to massage myself with and it's such a nice feeling.
I don't know if I've mentioned that I'm one of 3 pregnant women at our church. As small as our new church is, the baby wave has already started. My friend Rachel (who is also our pastor's wife and Gracie's mom) is pregnant with their 3rd little one and just found out they're having another boy. Erin is the other pregnant mama. She has a 20 month old little girl and they're not finding out what they're having. Rachel and Erin are actually due within 2 days of each other and I'm just 4 weeks behind them. It's exciting =). I can't wait until December 5 to see our little one again and I'm hoping he/she cooperates and gives us a clear shot.

A few pictures to start out with...
Our friend Billy has a jacket that he's pretty fond of. He's so fond of it that he found a matching jacket for his dog. Well, we found a matching shirt for Matthew. Here's Billy and Gibson:

Here's Matthew wanting to be like Uncle Billy:

The Batman pj's. Just because they're awesome.

Yesterday was a long day for us, but we had some fun. We met up with Kelly and Marianne right after nap time and we finally got to take Matthew's 1 year photos. We did get an unofficial sneak peak last night at their house but I don't have anything to share with all of you just yet. Matthew was his typical serious self (at least it's typical when we're anywhere but home) and even though we did get some smirks out of him, most of the pictures are serious. We're not disappointed in the slightest. They got some great pictures and he was pretty content most of the time.
After the pictures we took them out to lunch and we just got to spend some time with one of our favorite couples. It's such a blessing to have friends like them. Not too long after we finished lunch we had to head over to the doctor's for my appointment, but I'll post more about that later. After the doctor is was time to head over to the Monaghans' for some Halloween fun. Matthew didn't fuss one bit about wearing his costume so that was awesome and I do have to say that he was the cutest Chewbacca I've ever seen. Oh, and you'll have to excuse the food all over his face. We got rushed out he door to go trick or treating. He wasn't even dressed yet when they started to leave so I didn't realize how much food he had on his face until I went back and looked at the pictures later. Oh well, he's still adorable.

Matthew's girlfriend, Gracie, and her brother, Riley, as Wonder Woman and Superman

Here are most of the kids that were there last night. L-R: George as Batman, Riley as Superman, Gracie as Wonder Woman, Eden as a bee, Asia as a pop star, Sam as Optimus Prime, and down in front next to Matthew is Addilyn as Pebbles.

And this was just cute this morning. Matthew walked over to Daddy and just wanted to relax next to him. =)

Ok, now onto my doctor's appointment. She just asked me how I was feeling and I got weighed, which was not fun. Then they went to check the heartbeat. Usually the heartbeat can be found using a doppler at 16 weeks, well I'm only 15 weeks, so they couldn't find Baby's heartbeat using the doppler. So she said they were going to cheat a little bit and went to get the ultrasound machine. So we got to see our little one again and his/her heartbeat is nice and strong and he/she looks perfect. They didn't give me any pictures this time, which is fine. I did schedule my 20 weeks ultrasound so for anyone keeping track, that appointment will be on December 5. Pray that baby cooperates with us =).
Here's my 15 week picture. I'm thinking I seriously need to start looking into that Bella Band. My pants are getting a little snug in the tummy but still fit everywhere else.
