19 weeks along now. Next Wednesday I will be halfway there! We had our appointment today and the baby's heart rate is good. All of my blood tests came back and everything looks good. I'm not anemic, which my mom thought I might be because I was pale and exhausted for a while. I tried to tell her it was just pregnancy, not anemia. Also, some of you know that I was having some trouble with my insulin levels before I got pregnant. However, my blood sugar levels looked great so that's not a concern. We have our ultrasound appointment June 6 and if the baby cooperates we'll know for sure what we're having. I'm going to have a long talk with the baby before we have the ultrasound about not being shy for mommy and daddy. =)

I've started to show. Strangers are starting to look at my tummy when we're out and about. Gilbert has been fascinated with how hard my stomach is getting. This is the current belly picture.

Also, I've been feeling some movement. Last week the baby kicked me for the first time. No kicks since then, but I can still feel movement once or twice a day. Gilbert probably won't feel the baby move for several more weeks.

Well, that seems to be that. Just under two weeks until we find out if we're expecting Matthew or Elise. I hope everyone's doing well!

Ok, so in the last week I've had several people telling me that I'm starting to show. As I mentioned before, I noticed the shape of my stomach has changed. I'm posting a picture of me at 9 weeks and the current picture, 16 weeks. Looking at the pictures it's not too big of a difference, but the shape of my stomach has changed. I'll start taking pictures more regularly now that there's actually some change in the way I look. Please excuse the look on my face... I'm tired all the time...

So the Dr.'s appointment went well yesterday. We heard the heart beat and Gilbert said it sounded like techno. The heart rate is 164. I got measured and everything looks good. We have another appointment in 4 weeks, but we won't find out the sex then. The Dr. wants to do the ultrasound between 20-22 weeks so we'll have to wait another couple of weeks after our next appointment. They'll be checking for a couple of things at the ultrasound so they want to wait a little bit longer. Sorry everyone, you'll have to wait another 6 weeks or so to find out if Baby Saldana is a boy or girl.

In about 5 weeks I'll be halfway done with the pregnancy. It feels like I've got forever to go, but it also seems like the past 4 months have flown by. My mom has been telling me for the last week or so that I'm starting to look pregnant. I don't think I look pregnant but I have noticed some pants fitting a little tighter at the waist and my stomach is looking a little different. I still haven't gained weight. I've actually lost 5 lbs in the last 4 weeks. This puts me at a weight loss total of 40 lbs in the last 6 months. The way I see it, it's less to lose after the baby is born.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll update when something interesting happens =)

So according to one of my pregnancy calendars, I have just begun my fourth month. I will be 14 weeks pregnant on Wednesday and that will also be the start of my 2nd trimester. At this point the baby is measured crown to rump (or head to bottom) and this week should be about 3 1/2 inches long and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. I'm still not feeling the baby's movement. Most women feel it for the first time between 17 and 22 weeks. I'll be almost 18 weeks around Mother's Day and I think it would be pretty neat to feel the baby moving around that time, but we'll see. I'm still not showing at all but with the baby not being very big it doesn't surprise me that I'm not showing. I've been feeling okay. Still tired a lot and my emotions can be all over the place sometimes but that hasn't been too bad. More than anything I'm just grateful that I never got morning sickness.

Gilbert is getting a little impatient with the pregnancy. He keeps telling me he just wants to hold the baby and I have to remind him that we have 6 months to go. We have a doctor's appointment next week and we'll get to hear the heartbeat. No ultrasound at this appointment, but we'll have our next ultrasound at the appointment after that (probably at the end of May). If the baby cooperates with us at that ultrasound we'll get to find out for sure whether we're having a boy or a girl. I know I posted last time that the doctor thinks it's a boy, but we took that with a HUGE grain of salt because it was so early. Either way we've got plans for the nursery and we've got names picked out. If it's a boy his name will be Matthew Ezekiel and if it's a girl her name will be Elise Victoria. Of course if it's a boy it looks like the nursery is going to be Star Wars (not much of a surprise to those of you who know Gilbert). We have a couple different ideas to choose from for a girl.

I'll hopefully have a more interesting update next week. So far this pregnancy has been pretty uneventful (in a good way) and I know a lot of people are wanting to see the "baby bump" but there's nothing there yet. Hope everyone is doing well!

So we had our Dr.'s appointment yesterday. Gilbert was able to go with me again. They asked a bunch of questions about family history and they did some of the regular exams. We were also told about our different options as far as hospitals. It sounds like it's pretty much up to us, so we're going to find out when we can tour the hospitals. We have plenty of time to make that decision.

They did another ultrasound and everything looks great. The baby actually measured 5 days older than it did last time. Instead of 10 weeks 6 days it measured at 11 weeks 4 days but the doctor said to stick with the due date they gave me initially. That puts me at 11 weeks today. In 3 weeks I'll be starting my 2nd trimester! We got to see the baby moving! It was moving its' arms and legs around during the ultrasound. We got to see the heart beat again and we saw the fingers and toes. During the ultrasound the doctor asked us what we thought of finding out the sex and we told him we'd like to know. We were expecting him to say that we'd find out at the next ultrasound in about 8-9 weeks but he pointed out what he called "the rocket and the two little guys hanging out next to it". Sooooooo the doctor can't be positive but he's thinking it's a boy. We'll get a clearer look at it at our next ultrasound around 20 weeks to have a better idea but he was pretty convinced it's a boy. So it's not official just yet, there's still a chance that the doctor is wrong. The most exciting thing of the whole visit was watching the baby move during the ultrasound. =)

Everything looks very good. I have another appointment four weeks from tomorrow and we'll probably get to hear the baby's heartbeat at that appointment. I finally stopped losing weight so I'll probably start gaining very slowly from this point on. My appetite is good. I'm still picky about food. Still tired, but that's the worst of it. I'm not showing at all yet, but I probably will within the next month. We'll see.

Here is the picture from the ultrasound. The baby's head is on the right and it's body is on the left. You can also see his arms. Baby Saldana at 10 weeks, 6 days:

Sooooooooooooooooo... we keep buying things for the baby...

We've bought 3 onesies from Hot Topic and a CD of lullaby renditions of U2 songs... www.babyrockrecords.com ... Gilbert bought a pair of Converse for the baby... they're really cute. We are constantly going to look at baby gear. We've already picked out the furniture, stroller, and car seat. We probably won't be registering for at least another 3-4 months, but it's fun to look.

I'm really picky when it comes to food... beef is great... turkey's ok... everything else isn't very appetizing... Still tired all the time... Emotions are up and down... I've lost about 12 lbs. since I got pregnant. At first it was from the constant indigestion, but my appetite is back up and I've been eating a little more. I'm nowhere near showing but Gilbert's already giving me a hard time about finding maternity clothes. He says I'm going to have to shop in pre-teen maternity. Oh well.

Doctor's appointment a week from today =)

So I decided to start this blog so that those of you who are interested can get updates on what is going on with us...

As most of you know by now, we are expecting our first child. This was hoped for, but it also came as a surprise. We had our first ultrasound yesterday and we finally have a due date! October 17, 2007 is our due date and I will be 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Gilbert was able to come to the appointment with me and we got to see the heartbeat. I cried (which should not be any surprise to those of you who know me) and I couldn't stop talking about the baby after we left the Dr.'s office. We have another Dr.'s appointment in 4 weeks for my physical and at 20 weeks we can find out the sex of the baby (if the baby cooperates).

I have been feeling well. I have been tired and I've been getting indigestion, but I can handle that. No morning sickness and according to some websites I've been on, if I haven't gotten morning sickness yet I should be in the clear. Chicken is gross. Tacos are good. That's pretty much it for now.

Here is our baby at 6 weeks, 5 days:
